To provide a method for evaluating a hitting sound of a golf club head for quantitatively evaluating to what extent the hitting sound of the golf club head to be evaluated is liked by an optional golfer.

The method: sampling a vibration waveform in the case of hitting a prescribed golf ball with the golf club head to be evaluated; calculating a sound pressure parameter expressing the loudness of the hitting sound, a echo parameter expressing the degree of attenuation of the hitting sound, a frequency parameter expressing the frequency characteristic of the hitting sound and a pure tone degree parameter expressing the feeling of pureness of the hitting sound from the sampled vibration waveform as evaluation parameters; weighting each of the evaluation parameters; and calculating a favorable impression evaluation value which expresses the degree of favorable impression to the hitting sound quantitatively to evaluate the hitting sound of the golf club to be evaluated.
