Title:
METHOD OF EXPANDING MEASUREMENT RANGE OF OPTICAL SENSOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2005077342
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To expand a detectable range for an object to be measured by using the optical sensor of the Faraday effect or the like.

The current detection range of an optical sensor using the Faraday effect or the like is generally about 200kA. As a method for expanding the range, there is, for example, a method using two sensors having different sensitivity, but even the method provides about threefold expansion at best. For example, the optical heterodyne method is applied to two sensors 8a, 8b having different sensitivity. By combining resultant sensor outputs SA, SB, even a current of the order of a few megaamperes is easily detected.
