PURPOSE: To carry out electrodeposition on both surfaces of a grindstone, thereby to remove the difference in the coarsenesses of both sides of the grindstone and to fabricate a grindstone having uniform and sharp surfaces.
CONSTITUTION: In an electrocasting a metal bond of grains of diamond and nickel to a matrix, the electrodeposition is stopped a little before the thickness of the electrodeposited product 3 becomes substantially half the required finished thickness. Then, the exposed surface of the electrodeposited product 3 is coated with a photosensitive film 1, and, in this state, the exposed surface of the electrodeposited product 3 is exfoliated from the matrix substrate 2. Thereafter, an electrode is attached to the exfoliated exposed surface of the electrodeposited product and the electrodeposition is resumed to increase the thickness of the product to a required finish dimension. As a result, the electrodeposited product 3 is projected from the exfoliated surface. Moreover, the photosensitive resin film 1 is removed to obtain a finally finished graindstone.
