To provide a method and a facility for recovering heat from a flue gas of a boiler.SOLUTION: A method includes: a step in which a flue gas (G) of a boiler passes through a flue gas cooling unit (1); a step in which heat from the flue gas (G) is transferred to circulation (3) of a flue gas coolant (CL) to cool the flue gas (G); a step in which heat energy of the flue gas coolant (CL) is transferred to a heat pump (2); and a step in which the heat pump (2) is disposed so as to receive heat energy also from a circulation facility (8) of an area cooling system. The heat pump (2) is connected to a circulation facility (6) of an area heating system. The method further includes a step in which the heat energy received from the coolant (CL) and the circulation facility (8) of the area cooling system is transferred to the circulation facility (6) of the area heating system to decrease temperatures of the flue gas coolant (CL) and a cooling liquid of the area cooling system and increase a temperature of a heating liquid of the area heating system in the heat pump (2).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
