PURPOSE: To easily perform figuring work by reducing the forming load so that deformations may be minimized, by thrusting punches into materials for making clockfaces at least for a depth which has a specified ratio to the thickness of the materials.

CONSTITUTION: A punch 2 is set at the metal mold moving side, and a pattern 5 is formed on the surface of the punch 2. The diameter of the punch 2 is made smaller than a material for the base of the clockface 3, and a die 1 is made larger than the diameter of the punch 2 and the material for the base of the clockface 3. When the forming is performed, the punch 2 is thrusted into the material for the base of the clockface 3 at least for a depth which is about 1/50 of the thickness of the material, and the pattern is formed on the upper surface of the material. Therefore, the pattern formed on the surface of the punch 2 is thrusted into the material 3 for a depth which is about 1/50 of the thickness of the material 3, and thus, the pattern is easily made.
