Abstract:

To provide a simple method for forming an axially non-symmetric and aspheric surface by turning and machining a work only by moving a cutter in two directions in parallel with and orthogonal to a main spindle in synchronization with the rotation of the main spindle.

This method uses an aspheric surface processing machine turning and machining the work surface of the work by moving the cutter in two directions in parallel with and orthogonal to the spindle in synchronization with the rotation of the work around the spindle according to data calculated previously. Z-axis processing data for moving the cutter in parallel with the spindle include axially symmetric reference processing data, and correction processing data by a sinusoidal wave in two cycles per one rotation of the spindle. The correction processing data are the product of the sinusoidal wave data and the maximum amplitude value of axial asymmetry. The sinusoidal wave data are the product of a correction value which is zero when the cutter is in the center of the spindle and increases as the cutter separates from the center relative to the movement of the cutter in the direction orthogonal to the spindle, and the sinusoidal wave in two cycles. The axially symmetric reference processing data are aspheric processing data.
