Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain good workability in forming a film that can be cured in a short time even at low temperature and maintains the solvent resistance, water resistance and mechanical strength, by heat aging a liquid mixture of aqueous dispersions of two specified polymers and then forming a film therefrom.
CONSTITUTION: An aqueous dispersion (A) of a polymer containing 2-oxanzoline groups, having a number-average molecular weight of 1000 or higher, and obtained by polymerizing a monomer component containing an addition- polymerizable oxazoline compound of the formula (wherein R1 to R4 are each H, a halogen, an alkyl, an aralkyl, phenyl or a substituted phenyl; and R is a noncyclic organic group having an addition-polymerizable unsaturated bond) is mixed with an aqueous dispersion (B) of a polymer of a monomer component containing an unsaturated carboxylic acid or a carboxylated condensation polymer so as to provide a molar ratio of the oxazoline group of component A to the carboxyl group of component B of 1:(0.1 to 50). The mixture having the pH adjusted to 7 or higher is aged by heating at 50-100°C and, if necessary, mixed with additives such as a plasticizer and a filler, which is used as, e.g. a coating material, a surface treating material or an adhesive.
