To provide a method for forming a metallic coating film free from the generation of metal unevenness, having an excellent flip-flop property, coated by a 3-coat 2-bake (3C2B) method or a 4-coat 2-bake (4C2B) method using a metallic coating material and a clear coating material.

This metallic coating film is formed by applying a metallic coating material A and, if necessary, a clear coating material B to be cured, and further applying a metallic coating material C and a clear coating material D to be cured, wherein the coating film thickness of the metallic coating material C is 5-13 μm and no more than a concealing film thickness.
