PURPOSE: To make mass production of patterned thin films by adhering patterned release films having apertures on the surface of a flexible base mate rial and adhering the thin films on these release films and in the apertures, then removing the thin film parts supported by the release films.
CONSTITUTION: The patterned release films 16 (water-soluble polyvinylpyrrolidone, etc.) having the apertures 17 are adhered by a printing technique on the front surface 12 of the flexible base material 11 (polyester, etc.). The thin films 21 (stainless steel, titanium, etc.) are then adhered on the release films 16 and in the apertures 17 and, thereafter, the base material is put into a solvent 27 in a tank 26 and the release films 16 existing under the parts 21a of the thin films 21 are dissolved by the solvent 27 via the apertures 17. As a result, the parts 21a of the thin films 21 existing on the release films 16 are removed from the base material 21 and merchandise 51 formed with the patterned thin films 21 on the base material 11 is thus obtd.
