To provide a method for generating ethanol by which cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin and the like included in organic materials in comparatively large amounts can be used and carbon dioxide, sulfate compounds, nitrogen compounds are not discharged into atmosphere and water.
The method for generating ethanol comprises: a first process for preparing the organic material; and a second process comprising at least one time of two or more steps selected from a group consisting of the step (a) of obtaining a fertilizer precursor component by carrying out ethanol fermentation by using one or more kinds of microorganisms selected from a group consisting of fungi having alcohol producibility, Zymomonas mobilis and heterofermentative lactic acid bacteria to extract ethanol from the organic materials, the step (b) of obtaining organic materials by decomposing the fertilizer precursor component with the microorganisms under an aerobic condition and possibly extracting ethanol depending on conditions, and the step (c) of obtaining organic materials from inorganic materials by anabolism of the microorganisms and possibly extracting ethanol depending on conditions.
