Title:
METHOD FOR HEATING CONTINUOUSLY CAST BILLET FOR WIRE ROD AND STEEL BAR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS6217119
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To stably obtain a steel material having higher uniformity in the cross-section and higher workability than a steel material obtd. by a conventional method by carrying out diffusion treatment so as to actively reduce the amounts of C, Mn, P, etc.
CONSTITUTION: The composition of a steel is composed of, by weight, 0.4W1.2% C, ≤2% Si, 0.3W2% Mn and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. The composition may further contain 0.01W0.1% Al and/or <0.02% Ti. A billet formed by continuously casting the steel is directly heated so that the temp. of the central part of the billet is increased to 1,250W1,350°C. The billet may be cooled once before the heating. The heated billet is held at that temp. for 1W20hr to reduce segregation.
