PURPOSE: To provide a method for improving hydrogen purity by which an improvement in hydrogen recovery ratio has preference even when the throughput is reduced and an apparatus therefor.
CONSTITUTION: This method for improving the hydrogen purity is to use plural hydrogen recovering containers (CH1) and (CH2), connected in series to a hydrogen utilizing device 1 and respectively containing a hydrogen absorption alloy, absorb hydrogen gas from the hydrogen utilizing device 1 in either (CH1) of the hydrogen recovering containers, then desorb the hydrogen gas from the hydrogen gas recovering container (CH1), lead hydrogen gas containing impurity gases to the other hydrogen recovering container (CH2) and absorb the hydrogen gas therein in the initial period for desorbing the hydrogen gas from the hydrogen recovering container (CHI), subsequently reflux the hydrogen gas desorbed from the hydrogen recover container (CH1) to the hydrogen utilizing device 1, repeat the absorption and desorption of the hydrogen gas from the one hydrogen recovering container (CH1) plural times, then desorb the hydrogen gas containing the impurity gases to the outside in the initial period for desorbing the hydrogen gas from the other hydrogen recovering container (CH2) and subsequently reflux the hydrogen gas desorbed from the other hydrogen recovering container (CH2) to the hydrogen utilizing device 1.
