Abstract:
To provide a method for improving the strength of a molded article and a method for producing a strengthened molded article obtained by improving the strength of a molded article.SOLUTION: A method for improving the strength of a molded article comprises: a step (1) in which a molded article comprising an oxide(s) comprising at least one element selected from the group consisting of Si, Al, Ca, Zr, Ti, Fe, Cr and Mg is subjected to impregnation treatment with at least one or more silica-containing solutions, including a silica sol solution or an alkyl silicate solution; a step (2) in which the molded article treated by the step (1) is subjected to heating treatment at 800°C or more; a step (3) in which the molded article treated by the step (2) is subjected to impregnation treatment with at least one or more silica-containing solutions, including a silica sol solution or an alkyl silicate solution; and a step (4) in which the molded article treated by the step (3) is subjected to heating treatment at 800°C or more, and at least one of the step (2) and the step (4) is the heating treatment at 1,000°C or more.SELECTED DRAWING: None
