Abstract:

To provide a method of an apparatus available for generating a trigger signal representing an event which occurs or is to occur based upon information from a protocol stack layer except a physical layer.

The method of indicating the occurrence of the event in accordance with the prescribed protocol includes: selecting of a step involved in implementation of the protocol; recording an association between the selected step and a requirement of the trigger signal; monitoring the performance of steps comprising the implementation of the protocol; detecting a condition related to performance of the selected step; generating a trigger signal in addition to any signal generated as part of implementation of the protocol; and indicating occurrence of the detected condition.
