Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of industrially producing a compound expressed by the general formula (II) useful as a developer for leuco dyes used in thermographic papers, capable of producing the compound with keeping productivity, economical efficiency and safety, by using such a raw material that can be stably supplied.
SOLUTION: In this method of industrially producing the compound expressed by the general formula (II), an alkyl iodide expressed by the general formula (I): RI which has higher reactivity than that of alkyl bromides conventionally used, etc., is used so as to shorten a time required for producing the compound, and further an iodine-recovering process where iodine is recovered from waste water of the production and reacted with an alcohol to produce the alkyl iodide in a self-contained manner is built in the production processes so as to completely recover and recycle the iodine. Thus the method can be more improved in productivity, economical efficiency and safety, when compared with those of the conventional methods.
