PURPOSE: To inspect the operation of a keyboard efficiently by allowing the positions of respective keys and the arbitrary positions in a display part to correspond respectively one to one beforehand, and lighting or putting out the corresponding parts when the keys are pushed, in a key input device consisting of the combination of the keyboard and the display device.
CONSTITUTION: The configurations of keys of the key groups which are divided to blocks by each function in a keyboard 1 and the display devices 10W13 of a display part 2 oppose one to one. If the specific function key on the keyboard 1 is pushed to set an inspection mode, and then if the keys are successively pushed from the key K1 of, for example, the key F group up to the key K43 of the key A group, the dots of the display device 13 begin to light (or put out) from the dot K1 up to the K43 of the device 10. Then, if there is a contact point failure or the like on the way, the dot corresponding to the display device does not light (or put out), and therefore the defective key is checked, and the keys are inspected with good efficiency.
