Abstract:

To provide a method for irradiating moldings of a cycloolefinic polymer with a radioactive ray to obtain moldings of the cycloolefinic polymer with a wide molecular wight distribution without deformation.

The method for irradiating moldings of the cycloolefinic polymer with a radioactive ray is one that is carried out in the conditions satisfying all of conditions (1)-(3) as below. (1) an accelerating voltage of ≥50 kV, (2) a dosage of the radioactive ray applied of 50-1,000 kGy and (3) a surface temeprature of the irradiated part of the moldings during the irradiation of the radioactive ray being not less than (Tg-50)°C and not higher than (Tg+70)°C (provided that Tg is a glass transition temeprature of the cycloolefinic polymer for forming the moldings).
