Title:
METHOD FOR JOINING CERAMICS AND CERMET NOT CONTAINING COMMON COMPOUND
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH07330453
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To join ceramics and cermet not contg. a common compd. with satisfactory joining strength without deforming the cermet by joining them by a specified method.

CONSTITUTION: When ceramics (e.g. Al2O3) and cermet (e.g. 72TiCN-0.5 ZrC-10WC-9Mo2C-0.5TaC-8Ni) not contg. a common compd. are joined, the joining face of at least the ceramics is roughened to ≥5μm surface roughness and the roughned joining face is brought into contact with the joining face of the cermet. They are then joined in an inert gaseous or vacuum atmosphere while keeping the joining temp. (°C) in the range of 0.9T to 1.1T (T is the liq. phase appearance temp. of the joining phase of the cermet) and the joining pressurization stress (MPa) in the range of 0.5F to 0.8F (F is the deformation stress of the cermet at the joining temp.).
