Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an influence by defects of pixels in a spatial light modulator (SLM) of a liquid crystal used for a projector.
SOLUTION: A method 100 is provided, comprising a step 102 for judging that a plurality of spatial light modulator (SLM) pixels have one or more 1st areas of SLM pixels satisfying a permissible defective SLM pixel policy and one or more 2nd areas of the SLM pixels not satisfying the permissible defective SLM pixel policy, and a step 106 for utilizing the one or more 1st areas of the SLM pixels, in a projection system having a 1st resolution lower than a 2nd resolution provided when utilizing both of the one or more 1st areas of the SLM pixels and the one or more 2nd areas of the SLM pixels.
