To provide a method for laminating an ink jet print which makes a protective layer thick enough to protect an ink jet image from deterioration due to water and which is not accompanied by a cutting process.
This method comprises a process (a) wherein the ink jet print including a substrate carrying the ink jet image is prepared, a process (b) wherein the surface of the ink jet print whereon the image is formed is brought into contact with a transfer laminate element including a flexible macromolecular substrate bearing the porous, fusible and transferable protective layer containing fusible thermoplastic macromolecular particles in a macromolecular binder, so as to form a composite material, a process (c) wherein the porous, fusible and transferable protective layer is fused by applying heat and pressure to the composite material, so as to form a substantially continuous layer, a process (d) wherein the composite material is cooled down and a process (e) wherein the laminated ink jet print is formed by peeling the flexible macromolecular substrate of the transfer laminate element from the composite material.
