PURPOSE: To surely perform the leading operation of sliver by taking a condenser out of a spinning unit, taking a sliver from a can, drafting from the inlet side to the outlet side of the condenser and inserting between a feed roller and a presser.
CONSTITUTION: A condenser 4 having contracted outlet diameter is taken out of a spinning unit 2 and a sliver S is taken out of a can 3 with a sliver-taking apparatus 18 and placed at the inlet side of the condenser. A sliver-passing wire acts on the sliver from the outlet side of the condenser to pull out an end of the sliver to the outlet-side. The condenser is returned to the home position of the spinning unit, the gap between a feed roller 5 and a presser 6 is widened, the sliver end is inserted into the gap and the width of the gap between the feed roller and the presser is returned to the width of the spinning stage.
