Title:
METHOD AND MACHINE FOR PRODUCING FIBROUS BALL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2003253550
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a method for uniformly mass-producing fibrous balls of nearly perfectly spherical shape and desired hardness at low cost, and to provide a machine for producing them.

The method comprises the following steps. Feedstock fibers and binder fibers are mixed together and hardened into feedstock pellets. The pellets are then heated closely to the melting point of the binder fibers by a heat treatment machine 18, loaded on the belt feeder 21 of a compression molding machine 3 and conveyed into a forming zone 22. In the forming zone 22, plates 29 each eccentrically rotates in parallel to the belt feeder 21 through two rotating shafts 25 and 26. The feedstock pellets brought in between the plates 29 and the belt feeder 21 are subjected to compression molding and become spherical, and then subjected to similar compression molding processing in the succeeding compression zone 23 and finishing zone 24 into the final fibrous balls, which are put into a container 31.
