To reduce an amount of nitrogen gas to be used, by approximately uniformly supplying the nitrogen gas to all crucibles in a short period of time, even when placing the crucible used in manufacturing an aluminum matrix composite at maximum density in a heating furnace, and thereby shortening a forming period of time of magnesium nitride in all the crucibles and the cycle time of manufacture.
The method for manufacturing the aluminum matrix composite includes the third step of obtaining the aluminum matrix composite by making the molten metal of an aluminum alloy 82 penetrate among the powders 81 by placing the furnace 12 into a nitrogen gas atmosphere and heating it, wherein the nitrogen gas atmosphere is formed by directly supplying nitrogen gas from right above the crucible 25 toward the inside of the crucible. The nitrogen gas to be supplied is previously heated. The apparatus 11 for manufacturing the aluminum matrix composite comprises a gas-preheating chamber 56 arranged near a heat source 23 in the heating furnace, and a nozzle 34 for supplying the gas toward the crucible, which is attached in the gas-preheating chamber.
