To provide a method for manufacturing an aluminum wheel for an automobile, by which weight and cost reductions of the wheel can be achieved while keeping its durability satisfactory.
A back face of a rib portion 5 is treated by the spot pressure treatment, by which pressed indents 17 having an outside diameter of 1-6 mm are continuously made along the surface. As a result, an emboss region 15 is formed on the back face of the rib portion 5, and compressive residual stress exists in the outer layer of the emboss region 15. Compared with a conventional shot peening method, the compressive residual stress can be almost uniformly given to the emboss region 15, and also the compressive residual stress can be given up to the satisfactory depth. Therefore, the fatigue strength of the aluminum wheel 1 for the automobile can be stably and remarkably improved.
