To provide composite materials which do not generate a noxious gas upon incineration as the wastes to be disposed or even upon encountering a fire in using them at home and further do not cause deterioration of the materials upon molding and, in addition, have good external appearance and high strength of molded articles and thus, can be used without anxiety, a method of manufacturing the same, and molded articles using these composite materials, particularly environmentally friendly inkjet receiver substrates and wall papers.
In the method of manufacturing composite materials containing, as the major component, a mixture of vegetable fibers and a nonchlorine based thermoplastic resin, a substance which has reactivity or adsorptivity for the vegetable fibers and enhances compatibility of the vegetable fibers with the nonchlorine based thermoplastic resin is incorporated into the mixture to effect mixing the vegetable fibers with the nonchlorine based thermoplastic resin.
