Abstract:
To obtain a cyclic carbonate compound in a high yield while suppressing a side reaction by effecting a reaction at a low reaction temperature below 100C.
A compound bearing an epoxy group represented by formula (1) is caused to react with carbon dioxide in the presence of a compound having an amidine structure and an alkali metal halide to manufacture the cyclic carbonate represented by formula (2). R1 and R2 are each independently a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group, an alkoxymethyl group or an aryloxymethyl group, or a 5-8C alicyclic group formed by linking R1 and R2 mutually.
