The method for manufacturing the die for forming the optical element is characterized in that the method comprises; a process for forming a kind of film of a material selected from among metals, nitrides, and carbides at least one a forming surface 1a of base material 1 of the die for forming the optical element by a film forming device; a process for forming a chromium oxide film on the kind of film formed on the forming surface 1a by the film forming device; a process to be performed simultaneously with previous process, for implanting at least a kind of ion selected from among inert gas, nitrogen, and oxygen on the forming surface 1a.
