To provide a method for manufacturing an electric double layer capacitor, especially a thin electric double layer capacitor, in which a low ESR can be realized even at the time of initial use or long term use.
The method for manufacturing an electric double layer capacitor comprises a step for forming a basic cell by arranging two collectors, each having a polarizable electrode on the surface, oppositely to the polarizable electrodes on the surface and rear of a separator through a gasket, a step for forming a double layer cell by stacking two or more basic cells in the opposing direction of the collectors, a step for providing a terminal plate on the surface of each of two outermost current collectors of the double layer cell through a conductive bond layer, a step for sealing the double layer cell and the terminal plate with an enclosure package provided with an adhesive layer at least on the terminal plate side, and a step for pressing the surface of the enclosure package for a specified time under a specified temperature while sandwiching the two terminal plates following the packaging step.
