To provide a method for easily manufacturing an electrode 10 for a lithium secondary battery in which a hole 5 is formed on the surface of an active material layer 4, and to provide an electrode 10 for a lithium secondary battery in which the mechanical strength in the vicinity of the hole 5 is high and having high load characteristics.
The method for manufacturing the electrode 10 for the lithium secondary battery in which an active material layer 4 containing active material particles capable of absorbing and releasing lithium is formed on the surface of a current collector 1 includes the steps of: preparing slurry containing the active material particles, a binder for binding between the active material particles and between the active material particles and the current collector, resin partially compatible in the binder, and a solvent for dissolving the binder and the resin; forming a slurry coating film by applying the slurry on the current collector; and forming the active material layer on the current collector by vaporizing the solvent in the slurry coating film, drying the slurry coating film, and forming holes 5 on the surface of the active material layer 4 by aggregating a resin phase 3 containing resin in the slurry coating film, vaporizing the solvent contained in the aggregated resin phase 3, and decreasing the volume of the resin phase 3.
