Abstract:

To provide a method for manufacturing a guide wire excelling in operability and kink resistance.

The method for manufacturing the guide wire includes processes for preparing a first linear wire 2 made of a Ni-Ti alloy and a second linear wire 3 made of stainless steel, welding the first wire 2 and the second wire 3 to obtain a wire body 10 with a weld part 14, and forming a coating layer 5 for covering the weld part 14. The coating layer 5 is made of a resin material that can reduce friction of a surface near the weld part 14, and when the wire body 10 is covered in the process for forming the coating layer 5, the coating layer 5 is formed substantially without heating the wire body 10.
