Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing sponge titanium by which the diffusion of nickel from a reduction vessel directly or via molten magnesium into sponge titanium can be suppressed over a long period and recently demanded quality can be satisfied and also manufacturing can be done in high yield.
SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing the high melting point metal, a vessel made of stainless steel where at least a part on the inner-surface side of the vessel is provided with low-nickel steel is used.
