To provide a method for manufacturing a hot-rolled steel sheet which can minimize a lowering in yield caused by cutting off a width end for the removal of seam flaws in a steel sheet.
In the method for the hot-rolled steel sheet, the shape of the width end of a rolled material 1 subjected to width-direction rolling is measured with a shape measuring meter 3 installed on the downstream side of a width-direction rolling device 2 installed in a hot rolling line. Based on the measured shape of the width end, a region where flaws occur in the course of rolling the rolling material 1 after rolling by the width-direction rolling device 2 is predicted to estimate the amount of the width to be cut off, and the width end is cut off based on the estimated amount of the width to be cut off. Further, the height of mold in the width-direction rolling device 2 relative to another rolling material following the rolling material is determined.
