To achieve a high-luminance and high-contrast display without display failure due to deformation of an image display part and to enough cure resin in a forming region of a light shielding part in manufacturing a thin type image display apparatus in which resin is interposed between a protective part having a light shielding part and the image display part.
The method of manufacturing the image display apparatus includes a step of interposing a photo curable resin composition between a base having the image display part and the translucent protective part having the light shielding part, and performing photo-curing to form a resin cured material layer. As the photo curable resin composition, a resin composition used has a curing contraction percentage of 5% or less, a storage elastic modulus of 1.0107 Pa or less at 25C of a cured material, and light transmissivity of a visible light region of the resin cured material layer of 90%. Photo-curing is performed by applying light to the photo curable resin composition at least from the outer side surface of the forming surface of the light shielding part.
