To ensure that no defects such as tiered cracks, wind ripple, run and crazing are not generated, without preparing many different kinds of base materials containing different amounts of gelatinizing agents.
This method manufactures an inkjet recording sheet using a base material 11 with a layer containing a gelatinizing agent formed on one surface of a support, a coating liquid 12 containing a resin with gelation properties which becomes a gel by the gelatinizing agent, and a coating liquid 13 and 14 for forming an ink receptive layer containing the resin with gelation properties which becomes a gel by a fine particle and the gelatinizing agent. In addition, the coating liquid 12 containing the resin with gelation properties is applied to the surface of the layer containing the gelatinizing agent of the base material 11 and the coating liquid 13 and 14 for forming the ink receptive layer is applied to the surface of the applied coating liquid 12 containing the resin with gelation properties. Thus the amount of the gelatinizing agent permeating the coating liquid 13 and 14 for forming the ink receptive layer from the layer containing the gelatinizing agent of the base material 11, can be adjusted.
