Abstract:
To provide a method of manufacturing a liquid crystal device with built-in a retardation layer by which a substrate and the retardation layer is prevented from being broken when peeling the substrate.
The method includes steps of: forming a material film 75 including a retardation layer material on a first flexible substrate 51 provided with an electric field applying means; applying an electric field to the material film 75 to align the retardation layer material along one direction of the in-plane in the material film 75; selectively curing the material film 75 to form the retardation layer 35; and sticking the retardation layer 35 to a substrate for transfer to exfoliate the first flexible substrate 51.
