To provide a method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display device without unevenness caused by a polymer and a liquid crystal.
The method for manufacturing has a step to place and hold a cell comprising a pair of transparent substrates 100a, 100b, wherein a mixed solution of an ultraviolet curing type polymer material 140 and a liquid crystal 130 is sealed, on a mounting plate 250 of which the ultraviolet ray reflectance varies in going from a peripheral part 320 to a central part 300 and a step to make ultraviolet rays irradiate the mixed solution in the cell on the surface opposite to the mounting plate 250. Proceeding in this way, the ultraviolet rays passing through the cell are partly scattered or absorbed on the central part 300 and on the peripheral part 320.
