Abstract:

To easily manufacture a liquid crystal lens where an effective thickness by division of a liquid crystal layer into a plurality of layers is reduced, which is effective for solving the problem of a variable range of a focal length and response characteristics to application voltage which are contrary to each other.

In a method for manufacturing the liquid crystal lens and the liquid crystal lens, a first liquid crystal cell including a first substrate having an electrode and a second substrate and a second liquid crystal cell including a third substrate and a fourth substrate having an electrode are superposed on each other, so that each of the second substrate of the first liquid crystal cell and the third substrate of the second liquid crystal cell becomes inside and a third liquid crystal cell is constituted by using the second substrate and the third substrate as substrates of the third liquid crystal cell.
