To provide a method for manufacturing a metallic member having a closed section for manufacturing the partially reinforced metallic member having the closed section with high precision by a relatively simple method.
A metallic plate-like workpiece W1 is press-formed in a projecting shape, and a projecting part projecting in the opposing direction is formed on a projecting top face part W2. The projecting part of the plate-like workpiece W1 is squeezed by press-forming the projecting part of the plate-like workpiece W1 in the projecting direction of the plate-like workpiece W1, and projecting side face parts W3, W4 are displaced inwardly respectively to form a closed section to manufacture the member of the closed section from the plate-like workpiece W1. A part in which at least any one of the thickness, the strength and the proof stress thereof is larger than that of other parts is formed on the projecting part of the plate workpiece W1. In the part in which at least any one of the thickness, the strength and the proof stress of the projecting part is larger than that of other parts of the projecting part, the squeezing amount when the projecting part is press-formed and squeezed is set to be larger than that of other parts of the projecting part.
