To suppress deterioration of charge and discharge capacity in the charge and discharge cycle of a lithium secondary battery.
This lithium secondary battery 20 is equipped with a negative electrode 23 including a negative electrode active material 11 containing a group 6 element oxide, a negative electrode collector 12 in which the surface roughness Rzjis(μm) satisfies d≤Rzjis≤4d, where the particle diameter of the negative electrode active material is set as d(μm), and a negative electrode binder 13 formed on the negative electrode collector 12 together with the negative electrode active material. Since the negative electrode collector has proper roughness, influence of deactivation and a volume change due to the crystal structure change of the negative electrode active material 11 caused by charge and discharge is eased. Further, the negative electrode active material 11 is formed on the negative electrode collector 12 together with the negative electrode binder 13, and thereby, peeling of the negative electrode active material 11 is suppressed. The negative electrode 23 for the lithium secondary battery is preferably heat-treated at a prescribed temperature, a temperature of not less than the melting point of the negative electrode binder for instance.
