Abstract:
The chain sidebar unit, for use on a chain saw, is punched out from a strip of metal. The rivet pins (26), which can be inserted through the drive members (24) are fitted in one piece on the disc plate (30) of the chain sidebar. In production, the metal strip (11) is first introduced in stages, corresponding to the length of a chain sidebar. The top edge is then cut out to form trapezoid pieces. These are stamped to produce truncated conical pre-pressed units. The previously worked section of the strip is punched and pressed to form rivet pins, bearing shackles (28) and a flat disc plate (30), and the chain sidebar (32) is punched out.
