To provide a method of manufacturing an optical filter for display which can be manufactured at low cost with high productivity on the whole, and to provide the optical filter for display.
On one surface of a long-sized transparent base 21 unwound and supplied from a roll body 30, metal mesh patterns 22 corresponding to the screen size of a display are provided at fixed intervals along the length of the transparent base 21. Each of the metal mesh patterns 22 comprises a mesh pattern made of a thin film of conductive metal and a plating layer stacked thereupon, an electrode frame 23 comprising metal meshes or a metal thin film is disposed at a periphery of the metal mesh pattern 22, and a single optical function layer film 31 is stacked on the metal mesh pattern 22 in the electrode frame 23. After a long-sized optical filter 32 is formed, the long-sized optical filter 32 is cut to the external shape size of the electrode frame 23 to form a single optical filter 50 for each display.
