PURPOSE: To obtain earrings and the like without projections and with a good efficiency in manufacturing and a good appearance, by forming a through hole in a base material, press fitting an ornament member such as a precious stone into the through hole, forming a proper metal layer in the base material by electrocasting, and eluting the base material, thereby forming a hollow body with an ornament member consisting of the metal layer.

CONSTITUTION: A flat circular through hole 12 is formed at a proper location in a base material 11 made of brass, silver or the like, a piece of diamond is fitted into the through hole 12 as an ornament member 13. Then, on the outer surface 11a and the inner surface 11b of the base material 11 as well as the inner face 12A of the through hole 12, a metal layer 14 is deposited by gold 18 carats fine by electrocasting, followed by elusion of the base material 11 to get the product. Since there is the through hole 12 in the base material 11, a battery electrolyte in electrocasting passes around behind the outer surface 11a of the base material 11, the inner surface 11 and the inner face of the through hole 12, so that the metal layer is deposited over the whole face of the base material except the face where the diamond is placed, to surround the diamond. Consequently, the depth of fitting of the diamond can be set accurately to be on the same level as the outer surface of the hollow body 15.
