Abstract:

To provide a method for manufacturing photochromic optical materials and a photochromic lens.

In this method for manufacturing photochromic optical materials, a monomer formulation includes 5 to 60% in weight of polymerizable monomers comprising di-(meth)acryl group shown by formula (1) when a monomer formulation including a photochromic compound is hardened to manufacture photochromic optical materials. The photochromic compound is added to the monomer formulation by 0. 001 to 10% in weight. A peroxyeter radical polymerization initiator, a peroxyketal radical polymerization initiator, a kind of an azo group radical polymerization initiator, or two kinds of radical polymerization initiators or more are added to the monomer formulation in the ratio of 0. 01 to 10% in weight to harden the monomer formulation. In the formula, R1 indicates hydrogen atom or methyl group; h indicates a phenylene group; j and n indicate the same or different integers between 4 and 20; and k, p and m indicate 0 or 1.
