Abstract:

To solve problems of being unable to improve a withstand current characteristic of a battery, and having the possibility of advancing intergranular corrosion from the vicinity of an unmelting margin since the unmelting margin of a plate lug is thick and strength of a shelf part is insufficient when thickening the thickness of a plate group shelf for improving the withstand current characteristic of the lead-acid battery.

The formation of the plate group shelf is divided into a first process of welding the plate lug 1 and the plate group shelf 4a so as to eliminate an unmelting margin of a plate lug shelf part by forming a shelf part having the thickness shallower than the prescribed thickness by using welding, and a second process of further forming the plate group shelf having the thickness required for completing the shelf part having the prescribed thickness in the plate group shelf 4a constituted in the first process, and a plate group shelf 4 having the prescribed thickness is formed. Thus, the unmelting margin of the plate lug can be reduced, and the withstand current characteristic of the battery can be improved.
