To provide a method of manufacturing a plate type heat exchanger where the peripheral parts of through holes can be mutually caulked with ease.
In the manufacturing method for a plate type heat exchanger 1, a plurality of pan-like plates 3 with through holes 17 are superposed on each other, the peripheral edges 3a of the pan-like plates 3 are mutually joined, and a plurality of flow passages allowing at least two kinds of fluids to internally flow are formed, so that heat exchanging is possible between the fluids flowing through each flow passage. Conical parts 18A, 18B are provided at the peripheral walls of the through holes 17 of a plurality of plates 3 and a rising part 21A is formed at the conical part 18A of a plate 3A. The rising part 21A is inserted into a through hole 17B of another plate 3B and the conical parts 18A, 18B are mutually superposed and caulked by bending the rising part 21A outward in a radial direction.
