Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuous method for manufacturing a polymer material in which heat history having substantially the same and uniform temperature and retention time is given to the whole volume of a viscous stream.
SOLUTION: The polymer material is formed by mixing reactants in the presence of an optional solvent to form a liquid reactant stream, heating the reactant stream and giving sufficient reaction time. An improved method for manufacturing the polymer is performed by rapidly heating the reactant stream in microwave resonant cavity to be worked with microwave energy producing TMono mode by a minimized heating in the boundary of the reactant stream in the radius direction, continuing the reaction while advancing the reactant stream through a circular zone having controlled volume in a practical occlusive stream and giving a fixed total retention time from the time when the reactant stream flows in the microwave cavity to the time when a product is taken out from the circular zone regardless of the mass flow.
