Abstract:
To provide a method for manufacturing a porous glass fine particle body, capable of suppressing the occurrence of soot while preventing back fire when using a raw material gas having combustibility.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a porous glass fine particle body comprises: a deposition step of depositing glass fine particles formed by supplying a premixed gas including a raw material gas having combustibility and oxygen to a burner to combust the premixed gas at the outlet of the burner on a start member to form soot; and a formation stop step of reducing the mixture ratio of the raw material gas in the premixed gas to the oxygen by reducing the flow rate of the raw material gas included in the premixed gas to form a combustion impossible region and stop the formation of the glass fine particles at the outlet. When the mixture ratio reaches the combustion impossible region in the formation stop step, a speed difference ΔV(=V1-V2) between the ejection speed V1 of the premixed gas at the outlet and the combustion propagation rate V2 of the premixed gas is zero or more.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
