To provide a method for manufacturing a porous sintered body of titanium, which can efficiently provide the porous sintered body of titanium of high quality at a low cost.
This manufacturing method comprises: a slurry production step S1 which mixes an organic binder, a foaming agent, a plasticizer, water and a surface-active agent as needed, with at least one of a titanium powder and a titanium hydride powder to produce slurry; a forming step S2 which applies the slurry on a first support to form a formed article; a foaming step S3 which produces a formed and foamed article by heating, drying and foaming the formed article; a degreasing step S4 which heats and degreases the formed and foamed article that has been separated from the first support and mounted on a second support; a first sintering step S5 which produces a primary sintered body having electroconductivity by heating the degreased, formed and foamed article in a non-oxidative atmosphere; and a second sintering step S7 which produces the porous sintered body of titanium by sintering the primary sintered body in a non-oxidative atmosphere at a temperature higher than that in the first sintering step.
