PURPOSE: To manufacture an illustrated record disc with sound grooves having precise shape and the superior tone quality by a method wherein the press molding is performed by inserting a surface member, a metallic plate and another surface member to the center shaft of the lower metallic mold.

CONSTITUTION: To a center shaft 5 of a lower metallic mold 2 for record disc pressing metallic molds including a stamper 4, a surface member 6 made of thermoplastic resin and previously gelled by heatig, a metallic plate 7 having at the surface thereof letters, figures or he like formed by printing, sculpturing or etching, and another surface member 8 made of the same material as that of the surface member 6 are inserted in turn. An upper metallic mold 1 including a stamper 3 and the lower metallic mold 2 are heated. Then, both metallic molds 1, 2 are closed and further heated while being pressed. After allowing the surface members 6, 8 to radially flow around the center shaft 5 of the lower mold 2 to form sound grooves, the metallic molds are cooled so as to unify the surface members 6, 8 and the matallic plate 7 to each other.
