Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a viscose method containing no zinc salts at all for manufacturing a regenerated cellulose fiber.

CONSTITUTION: A viscose solution is spun in an acid spinning bath but not containing zinc salts as in the case of conventional spinning bath. The spinning bath contains 6.5-12% sulfuric acid, 0.3-2.0% aluminum sulfate and 18-26% sodium sulfate and the spinning is performed at 35-60°C. If necessary, an ordinary drawing and an after-drawing treatment are made. The obtained cellulose fiber has a novel cross section not achieved so far, namely a 'C' shaped cross section. The fiber has an improved luster and softness.
